Summer Learning Journey 2016

In the holiday I want to go to Mexico because the have beautiful buildings. There are tall mountains. Their performances are amazing. The clothes in their performances are so pretty.

The Film Festival.

When we packed our Chromebooks away I was filled with excitement. We went to the mat and Miss Davis said “ line up”. Then we went to the breeze and when the bus came to school we went to Sylvia Park for the Film Festival. We arrived to Sylvia Park we got out of the bus and we were right next to the cinemas in Sylvia Park.

The Tamaki Primary  school came with us too. The first movie was from Tamaki Primary and it was called “Our School”. After all of the movies the last movie that we watched was called #DABOYS by Miss King’s boys in her class. My favorite movie was Our School and The Sugar Rap from Tamaki Primary and from my school was The Wrong Movie, Clayen and The Real Story Of Peter Pan.

On the way back we got another bus. Then we Arrived to school and went to class. When we got to class we had lunch.

Dear  Greer ,

This term I have been learning about Music it’s called Musical Madness. We have been playing  recorders and maracas. We have also made instruments.

I am looking forward to prize giving and film festival. Film Festival is when we go  to the movies and watch our school movies like ours about Peter Pan. The Prize giving is about when you get a certificate’s and you perform on stage.

Recorders

This morning my class was playing the recorder it was fun. We sat in a circle on the mat. Miss Davis showed us how to play the recorder. As we sat in a circle we were not loud.

When we got our recorder everyone held it the right way.We had to put our left hand on the top and our right on the bottom. When we are not playing our  recorder we hold it under our arm.

The first note we played was a D. To do a D you put your middle finger on the second hole and put your thumb under the back hole,and we played the note C to do a C you do the same as a D but you put your thumb on the back hole.

We had to go in groups my group was Kiarah,Atawhai and Julianna.It was noisy inside so we asked if we could go outside. It sounded like a bird,early in the morning it was very loud.When the noise stopped I felt like an elephant  when it just woke up. I was happy when I was playing the recorder.It was fun.

Musical Madness

As the children in room 14 marched into the hall my feelings changed from, boring to happy. At the assembly

Mr Jacobsen and Mr Somerville were wearing the same singlet. When we sat down I sat up.At the start of the assembly the assistant principal’s, Mr Burt and Mr Wiseman were singing the  Musical madness song.

Team four was the second to last item it was about when you sing in the car with different feelings. It was so  funny that I felt like Joker when he laughs. It one of my favorites. My favourite part was the part when Mr Jacobsen was in his van,singing to Drop It Like It’s Hot.

Team three to me came a tie with Team four because they  were so funny that all the kids in my class laughed, so did I. My favourite part was when Miss King sang “When I was 70” and showed a photo on her phone with a lady on it, and the part when Miss Davis was swinging from Chandelier.

Maths

My New Duffy Books.

Today I got a Duffy book one is called little women and the Whispers Of Wilderwood hall. I think that I will be reading my books after school and in the holidays.

My Recount.

Today me and my school went to Riverside road to watch the 12 year 7s and 8s catch the flounder. Mr Burt said "Kauri flats school caught 4 flounder and we need to beat that."   We are not going to eat the flounder, we are going to let them grow.

We sang some songs in maori, we sang about 5 songs. We hope that the flounder will grow bigger. I came back with my friend because we did not see our teacher. I felt happy because it was fun.

How To Make A Clock

Time Problems.

The Stardome

Yesterday, all the Year 3s and Year 4s got on a bus to go to the Stardome.The trip to Stardome was fun because my bus was the first one to Stardome. We were singing in the bus and it was fun. At the time my bus was at Stardome everyone was still coming.When everyone came we went over some rules and ate and played in the park.



At the Stardome, we learned some really cool things about our solar system. We learnt that when the earth is facing away from the sun it’s night and if we had a model of the solar system earth would be smaller   than a hand ball.  After we learnt about that we had a quiz on an ipad and it was fun.



When we weren’t in the Stardome, we were having fun outside. On the park I was on the octopus then the swing. I was happy that we got to play on the park and the flying fox. When we went inside I wanted to stay outside and play because I loved playing on the flying fox.

After all this, we headed back to Point England School.

When we were going back I nearly fell asleep. I was  happy that we went to Stardome. I enjoyed the trip back to Pt England.

The Moon

The moon was  probably made 4.5 billion years ago. When a large object hit the earth and blasted out rocks that came together to orbit around the earth. The moon is much smaller then the earth it is airless, waterless and lifeless. The gravity of the moon forces two high tides on the earth everyday. The first person to walk on the moon was the american astronaut  Neil Armstrong he steeped out of his space craft The Eagle on the 21st of July in 1969 and said these famous words "one small step for man one giant leap for man kind"

The Sun

The sun is the largest  star in our solar system. However there are many stars like it in the wider universe. The earth is just the right distance from the sun that our planet is not too hot or too cold. The light from the sun takes eight minuets to reach earth, and gives live to plants. Astoausts will never land on the sun. As it reaches five thousand five hundred Degrees Celsius one hundred times hotter humans can stand. The sheer size of the sun means that gravitational pull forces all the planets solar system to orbit around it. Once upon a time there was a city called Somstand there a gas station, a supermarket, a mall,a car shop, a beach, a cloths shop, a 2$ shop, a pet shop and some apartments.  Most of the people work in Somstand  worked so they can get some money. In Somstand there are a little bit of people, there are woman and gentlemen in Somstand. In the red apartment on the top of all of the other apartments is a woman called Mary who was a worker at the mall, at the bottom of all of the apartments was a gentlemen called Jake who worked in the cloths, in the middle of all the apartments there was a woman a her child the woman’s name was Liela her child’s name was Tila, in all of the other apartments there was onone but in the houses there was some people.One day two massive.......................

Tamarereti

When the deep dark black night sky without stars in it comes out the Taniwha comes out too. The Taniwha was so scary because he was a mean big Taniwha and people wouldn't go out at night because they might be the Taniwha’s roast.  

On one sunny morning in a small village a boy called Tamarereti was hungry and his family was too. So Tamarereti looked in his kete and there were no more fish left. Tamarereti’s stomach was rumbling with hunger so he went to his waka and went to fish. After that the wind dived down and Tamarereti caught three medium fish and was exhausted so he took a moe in his waka when the wind went away. After Tamarereti had a moe he woke up on a beach and was scared of the Taniwha so Tamarereti quickly lit a fire, cooked his fish, and ate it. In the corner of his eye he saw some shiny pebbles and a bright idea popped into Tamarereti’s mind. He got as many pebbles as he could hold. After Tamarereti got the shiny pebbles off the beach he threw them far in the sky and when he did that he could see the first light of dawn at his village. So when Tamarereti went back to his village he went to sleep. When Tamarereti woke up he got the biggest fright of Ranginui and how bright the sky was. Tamarereti said “I am sorry that I turned your dark sky into a bright sky.” Ranginui said “You know you shouldn't say sorry because you made my dark sky into a bright sky and now the Taniwha will not come out anymore”  Then Tamarereti said “oh ok.”

All Class Maths.

My class has been doing all class maths. 

Paper Planes

On Monday after lunch the students from room 14 made paper planes. We made them in our classroom we made paper planes so we can learn how paper flies.

First we came inside from lunch and sat on the mat. After that we watched a video about thrust,lift and force and also how to make a  paper plane.Once we finished watching the video Miss Davis told us “you can work with me or you can make your own”. Eventually Miss Davis gave us a piece of plain paper.When Miss Davis gave my group a piece of plain paper we Immediately ran to a table or stayed on the mat. Meanwhile when Miss Davis was giving out the last part of the paper me and my friend was talking about what we were going to do we picked to go with Miss Davis. When you make your paper plane you need to be as careful as you can. After we made our paper plane we had a competition my group came first Chaun won in my group next the was, orange group Kelly won from that group before the turquoise group went the green group went Kitione won in that group in turquoise Leigharna won in turquoise the last but not least the purple group went and Troy won from that group. After the groups had their turn we  had a  competition everyone who won in their group were in the competition Chaun,Leigharna and Kelly had a tie then, Leigharna and Kelly had a tie. In the end Kelly WON and went under the trophy. I felt a bit happy   and a bit cheerful.

The Cat And The Stars

I was reading this book called The Cat And The Stars

Tamarereti.

The dark black sky with no stars in it and the sea that is dark black as well. The dark sky was so dark that the people were frightened to go out.

The Taniwha cmes out of the dark sea and is looking for something to eat. The Taniwha is so scary that people always stay inside and they don't want to be eaten.  

Tamarereti is going to get some fish because him and his family and the people on the village were hungry. So he was looking for somewhere to fish.

Tamareati is catching some fish. He is happy that he caught some fish. He is putting the fish into the kete.

Tamarereti  went to sleep in his waka because the wind went away. When the wind came back the wind blew  the waka to a beach in the north.

Tamarereti woke up and saw it was dark. He thought that he should get back to the village because the taniwha might eat him. In the corner of his eye he saw some pepells.

Tamarereti  gathered all of  pebbles into his waka.Tamarereti had an idar.

Tamarereti throw the pebbles up in the sky to make the taniwha go away. Tamarereti also throw them up so he can see where he goos

The pepells that Tamarereti throw up in the sky are now stars. The sky is now beautiful.

My Clay Work With My Cousin And My Aunty

On the first Saturday of the holidays I went with my Aunty and my Cousin to make some clay work in my Aunty's studio. First we had to draw what we are going to make on a pice of paper. Next we got some clay and put some water on the clay so the clay did't dry up. Then we started to make what we wanted to make and what we drew on the pice of paper. After that we had a break we had some juice and some cheese chips. Then we went back to work. I made a dog, a shallow bowl and a candle pot and my Cousin made a big fish. This is what it look like.

Te Oro Trip [So fun]

 Today we went to Te Oro. The people from my class that went was Angelica, Chaun, Kiarah, Kristopher, Julianna, Suade and me Keyana. First we looked at the pest part up stairs, there was a big dragon fly made of lots of big and small wires. Then we went to the part that talked about  the environment, in that part there was a tank with two little frogs. Next we went to our part that had a game space the game was about  scooby doo not touching the line and picking up the rubbish when I played I won. That is it, it is was so fun.

My book is special to me because i love it and i will always read it. On the front of my book it has the Thea Sisters on it with a box of Treasure. I love Treasure and the pitcher,the pitcher is so pretty i will show you.

Fraction pitcher.

   

I made a pitcher with fractions.  It was 2 whole circles 4 half circles 8 quarters circles and 8 eights.  It is the beach.   with the sand, birds and the sea.

First day swimming in 2017

On Monday when we had swimming I felt very excited because it was the first  time swimming in Room 14.  Before we went to the pools we went to the toilet  to get changed into our togs. We went when everyone was ready.

First  we had a shower at the pools. Then  we went into the pools and the instructor told us his or hers name.Secondly the instructor called the roll.  

Next we had to stay under the water for five seconds.  After that we had to swim to the island with our crocodile hands on the board and our fast kicking feet. When we got to the island we took three deep breaths and went back under the water.

Finally  my instructor gave us a high five.

In the end we went to class and got changed into our uniform. in the very end we went outside and played for ten minutes then we went back to class. After we played we went inside to work.
